From routine cleanings and fillings to cosmetic and implant dentistry, Bay Parkway Dental Associates are equipped to handle all of your dental needs. To help you understand your options, we've included descriptions of some of our leading services on this page.
Your initial oral examination includes a visual examination, charting, periodontal probing, diagnosis and treatment recommendations. We will also take digital x-rays, which reduce radiation exposure to our patients by up to 90% and allows our dentists to correctly diagnose your current dental condition.
We have an implant specialist on staff to create an implant for a single missing tooth, multiple missing teeth, or to replace a removable appliance.
Our state-of-the-art bleaching system will make your teeth whiter in easy at home applications with outstanding results achieved in just days.
You can have a new smile with all-porcelain crowns or veneers on anterior teeth. For the posterior teeth, the latest technology in porcelain and PFM crowns are utilized to insure a beautiful, natural looking smile.
We use tooth-colored resin fillings that are cured to match your teeth while amalgam (silver-colored) restorations are also placed since they are a more durable material for posterior teeth. If an amalgam filling shows in your smile, we can replace it with a tooth-colored resin filling.
We perform root canals on anterior, premolar and molar teeth. We use the latest rotary root canal technology. This allows us to minimize office visits and makes the root canal experience much more comfortable and predictable.
All patients should have a standard cleaning at least twice a year. A child should have a cleaning and fluoride treatment twice a year. A cleaning on an adult might include prophylaxis (basic cleaning), and/or a periodontal scaling and root planing. We have a periodontist on staff to treat patients who have more advanced gum disease.
Whether you are an athlete or casual sports participant, you should wear a mouth guard to protect your teeth. If you grind your teeth while you sleep, a bite guard will reduce symptoms of TMJ problems. We custom make mouth guards in both soft and hard materials.
For patients who are missing multiple teeth, we are experts at fabricating full dentures or partial dentures. We also offer flexible dentures which contain no metal and provide a better aesthetic option for our patients.
The goal of orthodontics is to correct a malocclusion – a bad bite. Teeth may be crowded or crooked or the upper and lower jaws may be out of alignment. Occasionally, even when teeth appear straight, the patient may have a bite which is not even and which may be causing further dental problems. Malocclusions may be inherited familialy, may be developmental or may be caused by poor oral habits such as thumb sucking or tongue thrusting.
Orthodontic treatment seeks to address any or all of these problems. The goal of orthodontic treatment is not only to create an attractive smile, but to develop a bite which can promote oral health. Straight, uncrowded teeth are a lot easier to keep clean. Crooked, crowded teeth are much more difficult to maintain and can lead to tooth decay and periodontal disease.
Orthodontics utilizes physics to slowly move teeth into the proper position. This is performed by using corrective appliances, including braces and retainers. Brackets are placed on the teeth using bonding technology. Arch wires are then threaded through these brackets . The tension and tightness of these wires determines the individual movement of each tooth.
Flexible dentures offer an alternative to traditional metal based partial dentures. With no visible metal and aesthetic gum colored bases, they are a durable and beautiful option to help restore your smile and bite!
Zoom Whitening is available in our office. It only takes one hour to get up to eight shades lighter. A safe gel will be placed on your teeth, followed by a whitening lamp to accelerate results.
Invisalign straightens your teeth using custom-made aligners. A very sophisticated computer algorithm looks at a computerized 3D model of your mouth, straightens your teeth digitally, figures out how long it will take to get from start to finish, and then processes trays that will gently apply pressure to the teeth to accomplish the movements. The aligner trays are made of smooth, nearly invisible plastic that are worn over your teeth. With each aligner, changed about every two weeks, teeth will gradually shift into place, giving you that perfect smile you always wanted.
Why choose Invisalign over traditional braces? Mainly for the convenience of not having metal braces. With Invisalign, you can eat the foods you always do, you can brush and floss as normal, and you don't need to feel conscious like you may have when smiling with traditional braces. If you're an appropriate candidate, treatment time can even be quicker.
The main goal of dentistry is to preserve your natural teeth and keep them healthy for as long as possible, however, there are times when it is in the patient's best interest to have a tooth removed. Our skilled general dentists are comfortable performing even some of the most complicated extractions. For those that become more complex, we have in-network oral surgeons to complete the extraction.
Extractions are usually carried out with local anesthesia, which will numb the teeth that will be removed, along with the surrounding bone and gum tissues. Whether it is a scheduled procedure or the result of an unfortunate dental emergency, our staff will take the greatest care in insuring your work is completed as quickly and painlessly as possible.
